The career exploration program utilizes a comprehensive, innovative assessment model that walks young people through each step of the career exploration development process and ends with post secondary career development plan.

CPDC's career assessment and exploration model is based on the stages of career development as recommended by The National Occupational Information Coordinating Committee (NOICC), 1993. The NOICC model is comprised of three stages.

Self-awareness: Understanding one's interests, attitudes, aptitudes, values, worker style and basic skills as they relate to careers of interest

Educational and occupational exploration: Becoming educated about and understanding requirements for careers of interest by utilizing information resources for research.

Decision-making and career planning: Understanding the interrelations between self and the world, and developing skills to make realistic choices and rational decisions about careers. It's the development of a comprehensive career plan comprised of individual goals (long and short) educational, post secondary employment and training requirements.
